Climentum Capital, founded in 2020 with offices in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Berlin, supports ambitious start-ups aiming to scale climate technology and will be among the first so-called Article 9 funds in Europe focused on reducing CO2 emissions from day one.
“The combination of skills in our team is the foundation to drive collaboration with our portfolio companies and investors. We will invest in 25 startups across Europe (late-seed and Series A) with amounts between €1-5 million,” explains Morten Halborg, CEO and co-founder of Climentum Capital. “We focus on six promising carbon-reducing vertical sectors: next generation renewable energy, food & agriculture, industry & manufacturing, buildings & architecture, transport & mobility and waste & materials.”
“Climentum’s broad and experienced team is dedicating full-time resources from the outset to prepare carbon footprints and provide advisory services to portfolio companies,” said Markus Solibieda, Managing Director BASF Venture Capital GmbH, adding, “A joint effort by many actors is needed to achieve climate goals.”
Mark Meier, VP at BASF Nordic/Baltic, emphasizes, “The partnership gives BASF Venture Capital a strong footprint in the Nordic region and will accelerate our collaboration with start-ups and our external innovation activities.”
